When it comes to the tech industry, diversity and inclusion are essential components of success.
Yet, Latinas are still underrepresented in this field. According to a report by the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT), Latinas make up only 1% of the computing workforce. To address this issue, Dev46 was founded in Puerto Rico with a mission to empower Latinas in tech. Dev46 is a non-profit organization that focuses on promoting and supporting Latinas in the technology industry in Puerto Rico.
The organization provides training, resources, and networking opportunities for women who are interested in pursuing a career in technology. Their ultimate goal is to increase the number of Latinas in tech and to help them succeed in this field. One of the main initiatives of Dev46 is their Tech Academy, a program that offers training in web development, mobile development, and digital marketing.
The program is open to women of all ages and backgrounds who are interested in learning about these fields. The academy provides hands-on training, mentorship, and networking opportunities to help women gain the skills and confidence they need to succeed in tech. In addition to the Tech Academy, Dev46 also hosts events and meetups to connect Latinas in tech with each other and with industry professionals.
These events provide opportunities for networking, learning, and sharing experiences. They also help to create a sense of community and support for Latinas who are pursuing careers in tech. Dev46 has already made a significant impact in Puerto Rico. Since its founding, the organization has trained over 200 girls in tech and has helped to create a community of Latinas who are passionate about technology.
Ultimately, the work of Dev46 is helping to build a better and more equitable future for all of us. By providing training, resources, and networking opportunities, Dev46 is helping to create a community passionate about technology and have the skills and confidence to succeed in the field. The work of Dev 46 is inspiring, and we can all learn from their example!
