Mission Statement
Village Minds shops for and delivers food to those who are unable to do so for themselves, specifically seniors.
About
Village Minds is a grassroots organization dedicated to advocating for seniors in Chicago. Through their "Senior Shops,” they deliver quality fresh produce, other essential goods, and PPE to seniors in facilities and private homes. The organization was founded as a result of the looting that occurred during March 2020. Natia Simone, the founder of Village Minds, had driven around her neighborhood while the looting was happening and realized that a lot of her neighbors won't have access to the food they need. In June of 2020 Natia started a Facebook Live asking for someone to step up and help the community, and quickly realized that she would need to be the person to bring food to those who are unable to do so for themselves. What started off as a few posts asking for donations, turned into Village Minds. The organization now feeds about 462 people.
