Mission

Hermitage Street Community Gardens is providing low income families with garden space to harvest fresh produce in an area that is considered a “fresh food desert”.

About

Heritage Street Community Gardens was founded to support and sustain healthy families in a fresh food desert community by growing fresh produce for residents involved in the project. The garden also has a produce donation program devoted to providing produce to seniors, veterans and homeless residents. The team at the Heritage Street Community Gardens believes that gardening is not just about what you plant, but what you grow. Growing food is an important aspect of the garden but it entails much more. They grow relationships, friendships and communities. The Heritage Street Community Gardens are creating a safe haven for both individuals and families in a part of the city where many people struggle to spend time with their families outdoors.
