All Kids Play

For kids in sports, there is a growing list of expensive equipment, team fees, or lack of access that prevent them from even participating. In this episode we hear from Jason Schmitz (President and Co-Founder) and Jasmine Hodari (Co-Founder and Executive Director) of All Kids Play, an organization that works to insure any kid can enjoy the “fun of sport without worrying about financial roadblocks” and how they have impacted more that 382 kids so far.Want to get engaged?Website: https://allkidsplay.org/ Phone: (847) 749-5021Email: info@allkidsplay.orgFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/allkidsplayusaInstagram: @allkidsplayusaLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/all-kids-play/

Mission

All Kids Play is increasing quality youth sports participation by providing financial assistance to families and communities that lack sufficient resources and provide education on safe and healthy sports-related play.

About

Youth sports are a critical platform for kids to develop character and important life skills, such as teamwork, self-confidence, and perseverance. Research shows that active kids do better in life, and sports have historically afforded all kids the opportunity to live an active and healthy lifestyle. However, in the past twenty years, youth sports have grown to be an estimated $17 billion industry, and families are now spending on average over $900 per child athlete per year. Sports are more expensive than ever, and low income families are largely being left behind. In addition, kids are quitting youth sports at the average age of 11, many of them priced out, pushed out, or burned out.1

All Kids Play was founded in 2019 to address these challenges in youth sports. They help kids from low income families access sports through their grant program, which provides funding for registration fees, equipment and other associated costs. They help keep kids in the game by facilitating high quality sports experiences through their education program for coaches, parents and athletes, which focuses on effective motivation techniques to sustain engagement, life skills, and health and nutrition, to include injury prevention and the benefits of multi-sport play.
