Mission

Girls 4 Science (G4S) is a non-profit organization that addresses the lack of accessible quality science programs for female youth in the Chicagoland area. They believe science exposure and increased scientific literacy will equip young women to confidently pursue STEM studies and careers.

About

Girls 4 Science is committed to making STEM exposure and learning accessible and fun so girls can confidently pursue the advanced study of science and compete for opportunities in STEM fields. More than ever, female youth in Chicago need to feel safe, confident and capable of contributing to society in ways they are passionate about have the potential to make a difference. Of all engineers nationally, only 14% are women and 5% are African American.

Girls 4 Science believes that STEM achievement and innovation is a solution to these problems. They believe that their organization will change the trajectory of the lives of many deserving young girls in Chicago. G4S is making space for girls in STEM through collaboration, scientific discovery, accessibility, mentorship, and community engagement. They put all of these values to work in their Saturday STEM Academy. This six week long academy is for girls ages 10-18 and offers science exploration, field trips, mentorships, and scholarships. Girls 4 Science has served over 500 girls since its founding, and 83% of those girls want to continue to study STEM.
