Mission

Culture AID NOLA’s mission is to direct no-barrier, no-stigma aid to underserved members of New Orleans' cultural community with dignity, grace and hospitality.

About

Culture Aid NOLA (CAN) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization providing twice-weekly distributions of fresh food to our friends, neighbors and culture bearers. We believe in serving our community with dignity, hospitality and grace and aim to create a welcoming environment for all.

CAN launched in March 2020, as a collaborative effort between several cultural service nonprofits to combat food insecurity heightened by the COVID-19 pandemic. We grew from a germ of an idea to an operational organization in just days, making our first food distribution on March 23, 2020. Under the fiscal sponsorship of The New Orleans Musicians' Assistance Foundation (NOMAF) and with support from local businesses and city council members, Culture Aid NOLA swiftly assembled a supply chain to direct resources directly into the hands of those who can use them most, becoming an independent nonprofit on January 1, 2021.
